The Power fell to arch-rivals Wollongong Lions by nine points in their season opener, but the Kangaroos clash doubles as the official unveiling of the two-storey development.
The game will also mark the two-year anniversary of the tragic death of former Kiama president and life member Darren Williams.
"It's a pretty special day for the club," Richards said.
"Obviously Darren is close to our hearts and we'll be wearing black armbands.
"The new clubrooms are a great development for the club, hopefully we can get a win as well."
The Power trailed by 13 points at three-quarter time against the Lions and ran out of time, despite kicking two late goals.
Lions spearhead Sam Wilson proved destroyer, with seven of their 10 goals.
"The late goals made the margin look better," Richards said. "But we were a bit short on depth and had players backing up from Division One, so I wasn't too disappointed."
Similarly, Figtree could not run down the Bulldogs in round one, the team they thrashed by 104 points in last year's grand final.
Sam Price booted four for the Dogs, who won by 19 points, even after finishing the game with 7.18 on the scoreboard.
And while Bomaderry have dropped out of the top-tier, Richards is confident it could be one of the tightest title races in AFL South Coast history this year.
After years in the doldrums, Shellharbour signalled their finals intentions with a thumping 98-point win over Northern Districts.
"Norths have been building for a few years, so I'm sure they'll still have plenty to show," Richards said.
"But with Shellharbour bouncing back, it should be a fantastic league, even with six teams. It just means there won't be easier games and you'll have to be up for it every week."
Shellharbour face a stern test against the Lions at North Dalton Park, while Northern Districts will be desperate to jump-start their campaign against the Bulldogs.
