Victor Day has been behind the wheel for 70 years and has never picked up a driving infringement.
The Nowra resident who took his driving test when he was 16, has just hung up the keys because he is slowly losing his vision to cancer.
"Now I've just felt in myself that enough's enough," Mr Day said.
"I spoke with my darling wife Glenda and it's time to give it away now. She drives, and that's all I need. It's been a really good life. A good life with my lovely wife."
Awarded a Gold Driver Certificate on the weekend, Mr Day said there was no trick to having a clean driving record.
"You're better to be a little late than dead on time," he said.
Asked whether he's had any close calls with the cops when it came to infringements, Mr Day said maintaining a clean record just felt "natural."
