The cycleway runs from Belmore to Harbour streets and will see the section of Smith Street between Keira and Harbour streets only open to one-way vehicular traffic.
The last of the road marking along the route is being completed ahead of its opening to the public.
Next week, work will begin on the final adjustments to the verge at the western end of Smith Street to transform a section into a shared path.

From May 10, there will also be work carried out along the western side of Kembla Street from the roundabout at Smith Street to Crown Street.
"The western side of Kembla Street will become a separated on-road cycleway between Smith and Crown streets so that bike riders can travel in both directions," Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said.
"To facilitate this change, we'll be removing the 19 timed on-street parking spaces on the western side of the street between Market and Smith streets."
A council spokeswoman said there would be no loss of on-street parking along Kembla Street between Crown and Market streets.
