The $500,000 SHANX facility at The Links Shell Cove is a smaller version of a full-size golf course, which is played by the same rules as regular golf.
It will host its official open day for the community this Sunday, May 23, offering reduced prices for those wanting to play a round.
The open day will also see professional golfers Jordan Zunic, Ewan Porter and Danni Vasquez give the course a shot, while attendees can brush up on their own golfing skills with free tuition from PGA professional Toby McGeachie between noon and 1pm.
There will also be a prize on offer for the first 50 children who try the course, and a live broadcast by Wave
"The new mini golf facility will provide the community with a unique recreational experience to further enhance the Links reputation as a vibrant community space for friends and families of all ages," Shellharbour mayor Marianne Saliba said.
The facility offers a course for beginners and a more challenging one for more experienced golfers.
It was the first SHANX course in Australia, and Shellharbour City Council expected it would attract about 30,000 visitors each year.
The council, which took control of The Links in 2008, hopes to transform the golf course into an entertainment attraction.
The community open day begins at 11am this Sunday and will run until 4pm.
Places for the mini golf are limited, with tee-off every five minutes.
To book a session for the open day, visit the website or reserve a spot on the day.
