Angels in America Perestroika

Angels in America Perestroika opening at Wollongong Workshop Theatre on Friday and runs until May 29.
This play is the epic conclusion to Angels in America: Millennium Approaches which was presented by Wollongong Workshop Theatre back in 2018.
Set in the 1980s, the play focuses on the lives of the people that these themes directly affect, as well as using other worldly beings such as ghosts and angels to convey the feelings of the time.

Tassels, Pom Poms and Beads @ The Imaginarium

Writing and Publishing Symposium
Coledale
The ins and outs of publishing a book with advice from top authors, editors, literary curators and publishers will be presented in a symposium in Coledale this weekend.
Day Onewill feature discussions on Anthologies and the Small Press with Winnie Dunn, Editor with Sweatshop; Lore White, Editor in Chief of Baby Teeth Journal; and Sarah Nicholson, Editor of Heroines Anthology. Writers can get insights from Authors on publishing with Olivia Lanchester, CEO of Australian Society of Authors; and authors Pamela Cook and Alan Baxter. Finally, there'll be the perspectives from Publishers with Tom Langshaw, Editor from Pantera Press; Xavier Hennekinne, Publisher from Gazebo Books; and Laura Brading, from Well Read.
On Day Two, participants can enrol in the Publishing School for Writers led by Mary Cunnane: former publisher, agent and advisor to ACT Writers' Centre's highly regarded HARDCOPY program. The day will consist of practical workshops in the publishing process, going into detail on the function of agents, how to write a killer book proposal, and how to pitch your book to an editorial committee in a mock acquisitions meeting.

An exhibition on the last 20 years of these wonderful women is on at Wollongong Art Gallery until June 6.
