On Tuesday, the Victoria Department of Health and Human Services confirmed a Melbourne man and now his family visited the area from May 19-24, including places such as Jervis Bay, Goulburn, Hyams Beach and Vincentia while potentially infectious.
NSW Health has since advised anyone who lives in Jervis Bay, Vincentia, Huskisson, Gundagai or Goulburn, or has visited these areas since May 19, to be vigilant for the onset of even the mildest cold-like symptoms, and is urged to come forward for testing immediately if they appear, then isolate until a negative result is received.
In response to this, Group Seven operations manager Debbie Rowley announced on Thursday, Wreck Bay's women's league tag two fixture with the Gerringong Lions (1pm) and Regan Cup (third grade) game with the Southern Highlands Storm (2pm) at Francis Ryan Reserve have been cancelled.
"All games that were to be played in Wreck Bay this weekend have been cancelled due to a Melbourne person with COVID-19 visiting the area," Rowley said.
"The last thing we need to sending teams down to Jervis Bay to play footy when all this is going on - we need to keep our competition's integrity intact.
"The number one priority is to keep everyone in the community safe and it has been agreed by all that it was best to cancel those games this week."
The South Coast competition's decision lines up with the Jervis Bay Territory's announcement to extend the State of Emergency over the region, which will now extend to June 30.
