If all goes to plan Jack Alexander and Taylor Hudson will open their fourth cafe/restaurant in Thirroul in mid-September this year.
The former Kiama High School students opened their first The Hungry Monkey cafe in Kiama in April, 2015.
In the six years since, the popular cafe has won numerous awards and seen thousands of people from far and wide drop by to try some of The Hungry Monkey's Bad Boy burgers or one of the many other popular items on the continually evolving menu that provides different dining experiences at different times of the day.
This success has seen the owners expand with new restaurants operating in Berry and Bowral, the latter opening just last month.
Alexander said it was during the development of the Bowral store that the opportunity arose to open a cafe in Thirroul.
"To be truthful the timing wasn't great but I've been trying to get to Thirroul for about three years now, so I couldn't knock it back," he said.
The Hungry Monkey will operate out of the old Kings Charcoal Chicken site.
"It is a big three-shopfront site. It will be one of our biggest cafes," Alexander said.
"There is definitely a market up there for us, there is no one really doing what we do. We are a very family-orientated venue and want to provide a place where families can come and kids can enjoy themselves.
"It is definitely exciting to get up there because I know there are a lot of young families up there and it is quite a happening town. And with everyone trying to leave the cities and work from home, the northern suburbs of Wollongong are especially popular.
"It is exciting and I think it will probably be one of our most successful stores, which is really good."
