King's star continued to rise in 2021, with the Sydney FC left back playing 27 games this season in his third A-League campaign. The 20-year-old will line up for the Sky Blues in Saturday's grand final against Melbourne City.
King beat a strong field of candidates, including Phoenix striker Ben Waine and Mariners sensation Alou Koul, to claim the honour.

The A-League's top gong, the Johnny Warren Medal for player of the year, was shared by King's teammate Milos Ninkovic and departing Phoenix midfielder Ulises Davila. It was an impressive result for Davila, who spent most of the season based at the club's makeshift home in Wollongong.
The W-League's highest honour was claimed by Canberra United striker Heyman, with the former Illawarra Stingrays star winning from Emily Gielnik and Kyra Cooney-Cross.
