Regardless of the form each side is in or where they sit on the ladder, the two sides, who have met in five of the past 11 grand finals including in 2020, always produce classic contests.
This was no more evident than round two's thriller at Cec Glenholmes Oval, which the Lions won 28-20 - to give Scott Stewart a win on his first grade coaching debut.
The two proud clubs, who are riding four and three-game win streaks respectively, will get a chance to add to this epic rivalry at Michael Cronin Oval on Saturday from 3pm.
"The boys always look forward to the games against Warilla and this Saturday will be no different," said second-year Lions centre Hamish Holland.
"A win on Saturday will give us plenty of confidence heading into the backend of the season, especially as we have two games coming up against Jamberoo in the comings weeks."
From a personal perspective, the 20-year-old has thoroughly enjoyed his transition into the top grade, which saw the hard-running back-rower transform himself into a damaging centre.
"I've thoroughly enjoyed the past two season with the first grade group - it's a great bunch of boys," the Kiama High School alumnus said.
"They all give me the confidence to play my natural game, which has allowed me to contribute to the side's success as best as I can."
Through the first 11 rounds, the Lions have only lost one match and are sitting comfortably in second place behind league-leaders Jamberoo.
"As a side, we are travelling okay and know it's all about building every single week," the former Illawarra Steelers junior representative said.
"We just have to keep turning up every week, play at the standard we have been and keep the momentum going through to finals."
The tri-colours' next chance to do so is against the fourth-placed Gorillas - a task which will be made tougher without the services of injured forwards Alexander Weir (ankle), Dylan Farrell (hamstring), Aaron Griff (shoulder) and Kal Collins (knee).
"Saturday will be a massive test for us and it's imperative we will the forward battle," Holland said.
"We can't let them get a roll on in the middle of the park, otherwise their outside backs will cause us plenty of headaches."
The other match kicking off at 3pm Saturday will see winless Milton-Ulladulla host Kiama at Bill Andriske Oval.
Then on Sunday, the Superoos put their unbeaten record to the test against the third-placed Eagles at Centenary Field, while the Sharks and Stingrays lock horns in the ninth Shellharbour Showdown at Ron Costello Oval - both from 3pm.
Nowra-Bomaderry has the bye in round 11.
