Four active cases live in the 2519 postcode - which takes in Balgownie, Fairy Meadow and Fernhill. Another active case resides in the 2515 postcode, which covers Austinmer, Clifton and Coledale.
The heat map, which is updated regularly, defines 'active cases' as people who have tested positive for COVID-19, are in isolation and are being clinically monitored by NSW Health.
It only shows active cases that acquired their infection locally; it does not include cases that are acquired overseas, interstate or that are under initial investigation.
After months of no local cases in the region, this week NSW Health announced the five Illawarra cases.
A female and male, both in their 30s, from the region were included in Monday's COVID update. On Tuesday an Illawarra woman in her 60s was included in the figures, and on Wednesday two more Illawarra cases were announced - a man in his 60s and a woman in her 40s.
On Thursday, an Illawarra woman in her 20s was included in the update, but NSW Health later confirmed she lived in Sutherland.
All the Illawarra cases have been in isolation, as they were close contacts of previously announced cases linked to the Bondi cluster.
It comes after Wollongong residents were urged to be especially vigilant after positive COVID cases visited local venues on Friday, June 18. Baby Bunting in Shellharbour and the Broken Drum Cafe in Fairy Meadow have reopened this week after undergoing deep cleaning.
The private rooms of Wollongong obstetrician Dr Pip Gale, and the birthing suites she visited at Wollongong Private Hospital on Saturday, after coming into contact with positive cases have also been deep cleaned.
According to the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, there have been 159 confirmed COVID cases since the start of the pandemic - 125 of which were acquired overseas.
NSW Health's heat map also reveals overall case and testing numbers for each postcode - for instance there have been 12 cases in total in the 2519 postcode and more than 800 recent tests. In the 2519 postcode, there have been 11 cases over the course of the pandemic and over 600 recent tests.
In the central Wollongong postcode of 2500, which takes in Coniston, Gwynneville and Keiraville, there have been a total of 28 cases; and more than 36,500 tests including nearly 2000 recent tests.
