When Jenna Owen and her creative partner Victoria Zerbst joined SBS they had very big shoes to fill. The pair, who form the sketch comedy duo Freudian Nip, were taking over from funnymen Mark Humphries and Evan Williams (who have both moved to the ABC).

A former Smith's Hill High School student, Owens said she would often read comments posted by viewers like they were "deeply unfunny" and to "Bring back Mark!"
Now three years on, she said the public had slowly warmed to them and she was feeling far more comfortable being part of the comedy team at The Feed (which also includes Alex Lee and Ben Jenkins).
Their next big feat is being launched on SBS On Demand later this month with a "20 to 1" style satire series called Cancelled!
"We were all pitching around ideas ... and we started discussing cancellations and cancelled culture and things that don't get to see the light of day for different reasons," Owen said.
The four-part comedy series is narrated by Baby John Burgess and features cameos from Andrew Denton, Julia Zemiro, Matt Okine, Rae Johnston and Jordan Raskopoulos, plus Owen and her team performing in the series themselves.
But Owen didn't grow up desperate to be a stand-out comedian and chose to begin studies in journalism when she left high school. But it didn't work out as she "hated it".
"I hated it because I wasn't good at it, I like to exaggerate parts of the story that other people don't think is important - that's great for comedy, not so great for journalism," she said.
"One thing that's unique about me is I'm not that interested in doing comedy as a sole entity. I like collaborating ... and working for SBS in a team.
"I think comedy has the most purpose when there's multiple voices in the room and you're working together with people with different perspectives and coming up with something that's universally meaningful.
"It makes sense, I always played team sports growing up - I was a crazy soccer play there for a while [with the Wollongong Stingrays] .. before i did my knee."
Owens doesn't have a standout goal of getting to a particular fame status or earn a certain amount with her creative career, but she does have aspirations.
"All I really care about is continuing to make work that is overall positive for where we are in the world and continue ot build my friendship and relathips with Victoria," she said. "One . day I'd love have our very own Kath and Kim, a show that is universally loved and watched again and again."
Cancelled! will be available for streaming via SBS On Demand.
