Head curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Melbourne, Rachel Kent, is stepping down from her post to take over as chief executive officer at Bundanon Trust, which is evolving in its cultural identity with a series of upgrades and extensions near completion.
This includes a new art museum to house Arthur Boyd's $43 million art collection, accommodation and visitor facilities, along with new programs and activities which will be on offer - all to have a significant impact on South Coast tourism, jobs, educational activities, and creative opportunities for local, national and international markets.
"With the imminent completion of its new facilities, Bundanon is at an exciting crossroads," Ms Kent said.
"This expansion will change the face of the organisation dramatically, widening public access, deepening engagement in creativity and the landscape, and positioning it nationally and internationally.
"I look forward to inaugurating this new chapter in Bundanon's history - building on its past achievements and opening its doors wide to new audiences and generations, going forwards."
She will begin her appointment in September, taking over from Deborah Ely who resigned last December after a 15-year tenure.
Ms Ely said Bundanon would see the full maturation of Arthur and Yvonne Boyd's gift in the next few months and believed it was time for new leadership to further expand on their vision.
"I have worked with so many talented artists, and alongside passionate staff and Board members," Ms Ely said. "I am grateful for the incredible support I have received from them, from across the Australian arts community and from the Shoalhaven region, who have wholeheartedly shared the vision for Bundanon."
Boyd gifted his property to the nation in 1993, with the facility now offering at creative residency program alongside educational and conservation programs.
