The home at 6 Marine Parade, Towradgi will be auctioned on August 13.
Set on a 809sqm block, the dual-level beachfront family home features four bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The property has been owned by the McAlary family for 50 years.
Max and Zelma McAlary bought the home shortly after its completion.
Mr McAlary, now 91 and living in Figtree, was a well-known barber and real estate agent in the Illawarra, and also represented Australia at the Olympics in wrestling.
He participated in the men's flyweight division in Tokyo in 1964.
Unfortunately, Mr McAlary was defeated in his first two bouts by eventual medalists and eliminated from the tournament.
"The Olympics probably wasn't so big then as it is now, but it was still a big deal to him," Mr McAlary's son Greg said.
Greg said the family was selling the home following his mother's death last year.
He had many fond memories of the home while growing up.
"There were seven kids, and we all grew up in Towradgi, surfing and just loving the lifestyle there," he said.
"Mum was a real water baby, and Dad wasn't.
"The big thing was that if she saw whales or dolphins, she would make the whole family go upstairs on the balcony and watch them."
Greg said the "unreal" ocean views and access to the beach were among the home's standout features.
"But it's not just the daytime ocean views, it's the night-time views too," he said. "Like watching the lightning in the night sky - we used to sit on the balcony, have a drink and just watch all the lightning."
Selling agent, Darren Kay from Belle Property Illawarra said there was currently no price guide available.
"From time to time such beachfront properties hit the market, but it is extremely rare that such properties are positioned on level blocks of land in excess of 800sqm," he said.
