Resident Michael Wilkins said he had been informed that work would take place on Monday, July 26, which would see the power being switched off from 8am to 5pm.
Mr Wilkins was concerned about being without power while being locked down in his home and said he was told by Endeavour earlier this week that the work would go ahead due to a "life-threatening situation".
"They said it was planned maintenance, it was critical maintenance," Mr Wilkins said.
"I thought 'if it was life-threatening why are they waiting until the 26th?'."
The retired Mr Wilkins saw it as a "very inconvenient time" for Bellambi residents to be without power.
"I can't do anything - my nearest relative is much more than 10 kilometres away and I can't go and visit friends," he said.
"Basically I'll be stuck here without any alternatives and now I'll be stuck here without even the power to boil the jug or watch TV.
"What about the people who are working from home who are relying on power to run their computers? What are they going to do?"
Mr Wilkins was informed by text on Thursday - just five days before the planned outage - that it had been rescheduled to August 2.
An Endeavour Energy spokeswoman confirmed the outage planned for Monday had been cancelled.,
"This essential maintenance was programmed well in advance of the most recent public health order applying to the Wollongong area issued on July 9," the spokeswoman said.
"Our response to COVID-19 prioritises keeping people safe, keeping the lights on and helping people through a time of great uncertainty.
"We have deferred 80 per cent of scheduled work impacting power supply to customers currently in lockdown.
"Where necessary, we are minimising the duration and frequency of interruptions for critical maintenance wherever possible."
