This weekend the Bureau of Meteorolgy has forecast temperatures should sit between 15 and 23 degrees - although it's rumoured Sunday may be as warm as 25.
During a week of severe winds, with gusts of up to 100km/h, Illawarra State Emergency Service (SES) units received 77 requests for assistance.
The wind tore scaffolding from building sites, and required the closure of Crown Street due to the risk of falling debris.
Winds on Saturday and Sunday are forecast to remain at a comparatively light 15-25km/h.
Light cloud cover and the chance of some showers late on Sunday mean Saturday and Sunday mornings should be ideal for outdoor activities.
The news will be particularly welcome to residents locked down working from home with children.
A taste of the warm weather to come could be felt on Tuesday morning, which reached a balmy 14.8 degrees before sunrise.
Before the warmer weather arrives however the bureau has issued another wind warning for the Illawarra region for today (Wednesday).
The bureau warns that winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are possible from early this morning for the warning area, which encompasses Kiama and Nowra.
The winds are due to an approaching cold front that will generate a "vigorous north-westerly flow" across the state from Tuesday evening.
