Police have urged local pet-owners to take care after suspected dog-baiting incidents in Figtree this month.

In one incident on Sunday, July 18, a dog appears to have eaten poison while at the Figtree Oval Dog Park, a NSW Police spokesperson said.
"On Sunday 18 July 2021, a woman took her dog to the park and later that day, the dog fell ill and died despite receiving veterinary care," the spokesperson said.
"Toxicology reports provided by the veterinarian revealed the dog died after consuming a large quantity of rat poison.
"Officers from Wollongong Police District have commenced an investigation and initial inquires revealed similar incidents have previously occurred at the same location."
Wollongong Police have asked anyone who has seen suspicious activity or items in and around local parks to come forward and provide assistance to investigators.
