Shellharbour's Ellen Perez suffered the same Olympics fate as Gerroa surfer Sally Fitzgibbons, bowing out in the quarter-finals, one step short of a shot at a medal.
Perez and former US Open champion Sam Stosur were outclassed 6-4, 6-4 by Switzerland duo Belinda Bencic and Vikorija Golubic.
Still, it's been a stead rise this year for Perez, who made it through to the main draw at Wimbledon this year and is ranked in the top 50 in the world in doubles.

The loss came after world No.1 and Wimbledon champion Ash Barty was also knocked out of the doubles competition with partner Storm Sanders, having also been beaten in the singles.
However, Barty remains alive in the mixed doubles, as she combined with John Peers to beat Argentina's Nadia Podoroska and Horacio Zaeballos 6-1, 7-6.
Of the other Illawarra athletes, Fitzgibbons went out in the quarters on Tuesday, as South Coast surfer Owen Wright claimed bronze in the first ever men's Olympic competition.
