Construction in COVID lockdown areas was paused on July 19 by NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, which meant work on the long-awaited bypass stopped for two weeks.

But now work can start again, with some workers on-site on Friday to prepare for the restart of construction next week.
"In line with the NSW health order, construction work on the Albion Park Rail bypass project will restart from Monday, August 2," a Transport for NSW spokesman said.
"We have put in place COVID safe measures to keep our workers, subcontractors and the surrounding community safe while we carry out our work."
However, the community display centre at the Albion Park Rail bypass site office remains closed.
The two-week closure had delayed the completion of the project, with Transport for NSW saying at the time that there were plans to open the northbound motorway lanes, but that would have to be postponed.
While there is still no firm date being offered for when the bypass will be finished, it is still well ahead of schedule.
"The Albion Park Rail bypass remains on track to be completed in late 2021 and is still a year ahead of schedule," a spokesman said.
"Transport for NSW is planning to open the northbound motorway lanes in the coming weeks."
During the month of August there will be some out-of-hours construction work taking place along the bypass route at Yallah, the overpass at Tongarra Road and the Oak Flats interchange.
Some roads and exit ramps may be closed at times during August.
