A NSW Ambulance spokesman said emergency services were called just after 7:45am to what is believed to be a work-site on Albany Street, with reports the man had "chopped off his fingers".
"Paramedics treated a male in his 30s that had his hand trapped in machinery," the spokesman said.
He was taken by road ambulance to the Berry Showground, where he met an awaiting rescue helicopter and flown to Sydney in a stable but serious condition.
