She got into the passenger seat believing she would be hurt either way.
Stenzel drove the car from Koonawarra to Mount Kembla, which took 30 minutes, during which time he repeatedly punched the woman and used his backhand to slap her in the face and head.
He was yelling at her and the woman pleaded for him to stop as she was in pain.
The woman turned in her seat and tried to kick Stenzel so that she could escape but that made him more angry and he slammed on the brakes.
He parked the car, leant over and continued attacking the woman before he opened the passenger door and started to drive off, pushing her out of the car.

Police tried to stop Stenzel however he accelerated harshly and a pursuit was started.
