When the State Government announced the NSW lockdown was being extended last week the specialty value apparel retailer decided to find a clean and safe way to support families while following the newly released public health orders.
As a result Best & Less decided to re-open a number of stores across NSW solely for parents and carers seeking essential maternity wear, clothing for growing babies or health and beauty items in a COVIDsafe shopping environment.
The large retailer has also introduced a contactless Click & Collect service for all non-essential purchases open from 9am Monday to Saturday.
A spokesperson for Best & Less said with the seasons beginning to change from winter to spring and warmer weather on the way the business was aware some parents may need to shop for cooler clothing for their growing babies and children.
They said reopening a contactless service would also provide customers a chance to acquire new seasonal fashion and basics for themselves.
"For purchases outside of essential baby and maternity wear, like women's, men's and children's fashion or basics, customers are encouraged to use the Click & Collect contactless service as a safe, fast and convenient option for parents," the spokesperson said.
Making purchases and arranging pick ups from Click & Collect can be done via the Best & Less website.
Illawarra, South Coast and Southern Tablelands stores that will be open to parents who need to shop for essential baby and maternity wear and providing a contactless Click & Collect service for other non-essential purchases include Wollongong, Shellharbour, Nowra, Ulladulla, Goulburn and Merimbula.
All of those outlets will be open from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday and from 9am to 4pm every Saturday.
The Illawarra Mercury contacted other large retailers, including Kmart, to see whether they were planning anything similar for families requiring essentials during lockdown.
It was told they are looking into it and will respond with an answer soon.
