West's matter was mentioned briefly at Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday. He is charged with filming a person in a private act without consent to obtain sexual arousal (aggravated).
The charge relates to an alleged encounter at a South Coast property on Wednesday morning last week.
According to NSW Police, the Professional Standards Command began investigating a complaint about the matter that same day.
West, a 47-year-old senior constable attached to South Coast Police District, resigned later that day.
He was arrested just after 6pm and charged at Lake Illawarra Police Station before he was released on conditional bail.
In court on Wednesday Nicholas Leach for the DPP sought an adjournment to consider the case against West.
"Following his arrest, police seized a number of electronic devices. Those devices have been provided to the state electronic evidence branch for analysis, and it is possible, if not probable that following analysis of those devices, that further charges will be laid," he said.
"Depending on the nature of those charges, that will also guide whether this matter is resolved summarily or whether it resolves on indictment."
An interim AVO is in place for the protection of the child.
The terms of West's bail also prevent him from going within 200m of the girl's address.
The matter returns to Wollongong Local Court November 4.
