The Illawarra branch of Dress for Success Sydney remains open and is helping women through the uncertainty of COVID-19.
Operations manager Melanie Silburn said the present lockdown has created a greater need resulting in the charity expanding the support it provides from the Port Kembla showroom.
Ms Silburn said the Sydney showroom was struggling to service Dress for Success clients.
She said a generous Wollongong and Shellharbour community made it possible for the Illawarra team to fill the gap and assist more women in the Illawarra, Sydney and NSW. And is doing that with a "Style Delivered" service that provides parcels of hand selected new or nearly new clothing for women in need.
"We continue to assist women who need appropriate interview attire, but also offer the service to women fleeing domestic violence, attending tenancy interviews, court proceedings, or who have recently been released from prison," she said.
"Clients can fill in a form available on our website or by contacting us at email@example.com and complete as many relevant details as possible about the nature of the need, their sizing, colour and style preferences."
Ms Silburn said the Illawarra team then chooses a variety of clothing to suit the occasion.
Dress for Success is continuing its on-line career support courses and has added some lockdown courses on mindfulness, yoga and chill, chat and connect. And free regular online courses continue to run on topics such as The ABC of your Rights at Work, Discover the Hidden Job Market or Interview for Success.
Dress For Success has launched a Sweat for Success fundraising challenge providing people with an opportunity to get fit while helping disadvantaged women.
It also accepts donations on Tuesdays from 10am to 12pm at 128 Wentworth St, Port Kembla. The charity also had a demand for good quality shoes and handbags.
