About 5.45pm on Sunday, August 29, emergency services attended a house fire in Henry Street, Tarrawanna.
When officers attached to the Wollongong Police District arrived, they found the building well alight.
Despite the efforts of Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters, who extinguished the blaze, the house was destroyed.
No one was in the home at the time and there were no reported injuries.
The resident of the home, a 62-year-old woman, attended Wollongong Police Station that night but was released while officers continued their investigation into the incident.
But about 10am Thursday, following further inquiries, the woman was arrested at the police station.
She was subsequently charged with damaging property by fire.
The woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court next month.
