'The Blade' and 'Jenga House' have been designed by the award-winning, Thirroul-based architectural firm Takt Studio.
The home and granny flat sits on a corner block with ocean views.
The property, at 6 Young Street, Coledale is due to be auctioned on October 12.
The project was shortlised for the 2019 Houses Awards, and selling agent, Ian Pepper from Ray White Helensburgh said the home was an "architectural masterpiece".
Mr Pepper said there wasn't a set price guide yet, but they had already received interest in the $4 million range, even prior to it officially going to market on Friday.
The property was utilised for the filming of the video clip for the Ben Gillies (Silverchair) song One Foot in Front of The Other in late 2020.
One of the owners, Charlotte Reid said they were friends with the video's director, Luke Shanahan.
"They were looking for a modernist house, and a lot of aspects of our house fit the brief," she said.
"My husband and I were fans of Silverchair, so it was cool to meet Ben, and they were completely respectful of our house."
Located at the foot of the Illawarra escarpment, the house was designed to accommodate a family of four with a secondary dwelling.
Mrs Reid and husband Anthony Kelly bought the block in late 2013, and spent about a year in the planning stages with Takt co-directors Katharina Hendel and Brent Dunn.
"The goal was to have a beautifully designed house that was low maintenance, and would accommodate our seaside lifestyle, using a mix of natural, sustainable and recycled materials," Mrs Reid said.
"The end result was better than we could have anticipated.
"It's a fantastic house for entertaining - it was built to accommodate and entertain our friends, not just us."
The three-bedroom main home, 'The Blade', offers a versatile family-friendly layout, with multiple indoor and outdoor living areas and a flowing open design.
The home was built by a local team with assistance from the client and using a palette of concrete, timber and fibre cement.
Ms Hendel said to collect the sun, the western elevation is composed of strong vertical blades, opening to the north and protecting from the afternoon heat. The east elevation continues the guiding of views, and filtering of light through a transparent covered, planted verandah.
Somewhat concealed from the 'Blade' home is the 'Jenga House', a one- bedroom granny flat with separate entrance via the adjoining lane. Its roof also forms the outdoor living platform for the main house.
Ms Hendel said most of the construction took place in 2017, before being completed the following year.
"The owners were quite involved in the construction process; they did some of the work themselves," she said.
"We worked closely with them during the project, it was very collaborative."

Mrs Reid said they were selling the property so they could tackle a fresh housing project.
"It's taken a lot of convincing for me to sell, as I love life in Coledale - Coledale life is the best life," she said.
"The community is incredible. The people on our street, if I could move them and take them to our next home, that would be perfect."
