To ensure community and staff safety, careful planning and training has been done to comply with the latest Public Health Order which allows groups of up to two people over 16 years to attend swimming pools regardless of vaccination status.
Recreational swimmers in groups of up to five people who are not part of the same household must be vaccinated. Children under 12 are not counted in that number.
The Oak Flats 50 metre pool normally re-opens to the public in September. Council's pools at Albion Park and Warilla are scheduled to re-open November 1.
Shellharbour mayor Marianna Saliba urged the community to be respectful to aquatics staff once the pools are re-opened and said online bookings were essential.
"Council is obliged to comply with the Public Health Orders and our staff are responsible for making sure our COVID-safe plans are adhered to," Cr Saliba said.
"They are there to keep you safe, so please be kind and follow their advice.
"Pool visitors are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the COVID measures in place before they visit the pools. A link to will be provided closer to the opening date on Council's website and Facebook page."
