Known online as The Inspired Unemployed, the pair are halfway through their 14-day stint at the Voco in Surfers Paradise after returning from New Zealand, with their room already filled with quirky gifts and an entourage making a scene outside.

The most prominent fan in their club goes by the name of "Hammock Man" who has been sending the pair daily messages and gifts including rainbow coloured tutus, rose petals and strawberries, binoculars, walky talkies and a hammock to match his which is setup across the road.

Saturday night was the latest large gathering of fans with fairy lights, a "squad of hammocks" and people filling the footpath across the street, as seen on the comedy duo's Instagram stories which are followed by more than 1.2 million people.

During their stay fans have declared their love on placards below, boats on a nearby waterway have performed daring displays for Ford and Steele, employees from nationwide retailer SurfStitch set up a branded party to try and cash in on the action.

The did, however, ask to be "entertained" through their social media channels on day two of quarantine.

It comes as The Inspired Unemployed's star continues to rise with the launch of their inaugural podcast in September after signing to streaming giant Spotify, reportedly in a bid to lure more under-30s to the platform.

It's the first dive into podcasting for the pair which will see weekly podcasts including tongue-in-cheek skits, stupid dares and challenges, calls into their best mates, and raves about what's on their mind this week.

Since quitting their jobs as tradies the pair have been inundated with offers for collaborations.

They've become unlikely fashion icons working with designer labels like Fendi for GQ Magazine, Vogue, R.M. Williams, Redbull, Canadian Club ambassadors, and turned their hand at music creating content with Tuka from Thundermentals and Thandi Phenoix for shop-now-pay-later business Klarna.

Both have dabbled in creating funny videos over the years but their brand began in an AirBnB in Europe with no internet and not a lot to do, eventually gaining 10,000 followers before skyrocketing with fans.
