Shellharbour will soon have a new state-of-the-art long day care centre, conveniently located a block away from Stockland Shellharbour.

CatholicCare will open the long day care centre in early 2022, for the two to five year age group, with placements open and filling fast. The 60-place centre will provide a high-quality early education experience and boasts lots of great features children and parents will love.

The indoor space has been designed and purpose built with children's learning and play at its core. A fantastic array of creative learning spaces, interactive technology, educational toys and flexible learning environments will keep every child interested and engaged in a fun and supportive setting.

The outdoor space will inspire imagination, exploration and adventures with a blend of natural areas, edible gardens, water elements and sand play.

"The benefits of outdoor play and learning in the foundational years are profound. That's why we're placing a real focus on the outdoor area at the Early Learning Centre. We want to create an inviting outdoor space where children can explore, learn and play," Michelle Ferrara, executive manager at CatholicCare said.

CatholicCare is a faith-based, not-for-profit agency that has helped families in the Illawarra for over 40 years. Children will be supported in a spiritually and culturally inclusive environment, which will provide a nurturing space to help them thrive, build self-esteem and establish positive relationships, setting the foundation for a lifelong love of learning and discovery.

Working closely with Catholic Education, the Parish and the local Catholic schools, the centre will be a stepping-stone to big school. Great emphasis is placed on preparing children for the challenges of primary school by providing a supportive environment.

The staff will take a holistic approach to developing the children's personal, social, physical and emotional wellbeing as well as intellectual aspects of learning. A high-quality pre-school program will ensure a seamless experience when transitioning to primary school.

Pending necessary approvals, the project team is expected to break ground within the coming month at 19 College Avenue, Shellharbour City.

The Centre is open to all families in the local community, register your interest by calling 4227 1122 or go to catholiccare.dow.org.au
