Unanderra Public School is one of five schools across the state closed due to COVID-19 yesterday.
The news comes less than a fortnight ahead of the final stage of the NSW Government's return to school plan.
The return-to-school plan began on October 7, and is due to conclude October 25, after incoming NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet sped up the original school reopening timeline.
All staff and students at Unanderra Public School are asked to self-isolate and follow the NSW health advice and protocols.
NSW Health has requested anyone who has been unwell or develops any symptoms such as a fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of smell/taste, muscle/joint pains, diarrhoea, nausea/vomiting or extreme tiredness to be tested at one of the COVID-19 testing clinics.
Woonona Eyecare is also closed for cleaning following contact with a COVID-positive case.
In a social media post owners said the case attended on Tuesday, October 5 from 11:38am to 11.42am, however, NSW Health lists the time of exposure as between 12pm and 12.15pm of the same day.
It is believed no other patients came in contact with the case.
"Both our staff involved had been tested for COVID and have come back clear," the post read.
"We are of course following the advice by NSW Health."
