Open for inspections can take place for both residential and commercial property.
There is no capacity limit for how many people can inspect a home for sale or lease, according to a NSW Government spokesperson.
Therefore, the Mercury has compiled a list of several Illawarra properties that are open for inspection this weekend, with a focus on listings potentially suitable for first home buyers.
The home at 45 Lindwall Street, Warilla is open for inspection on Saturday, and is due to be auctioned on October 26.
It has a guide of $630,000.
Situated on a 626 square metre block, the family home features a recently renovated bathroom, three bedrooms, open plan living and dining area, multiple living spaces and an enclosed backyard.
Selling agent, Ashley-John Hatch from Ray White Shellharbour said the interested parties were predominantly first home buyers, with some investors and other parties.
"We've had great interest in terms of private inspections, but it will be great to get back to normality with having open houses," he said.
"The private inspections have been great as you're dealing with pre-approved and genuine buyers, and it eliminated the 'sticky beaks'. But it's very time consuming with all the procedures you have to go through. So we're excited to get back to open homes."
Among Mr Hatch's other listings is 179 Pur Pur Avenue, Lake Illawarra. It has a guide of $700,000.
It's open for inspection on Saturday, and will also go to auction on October 26.
He said the three-bedroom home had been popular with first home buyers, downsizers and investors.
Also, the home at 33 Daphne Street, Barrack Heights is open for inspection on Saturday, and due to be auctioned on October 26.
The three-bedroom, one-bathroom home is set on 556 square metres.
It has a price guide of $795,000.
Selling agent, Ben Cohen from Ray White Shellharbour said there had been interest in the home from some local buyers, and first home buyers looking to relocate from various parts of Sydney.
He said the property offered plenty of size, from the kitchen and living areas to the backyard.
He said it would be interesting to see how the return of open houses was received, but expected prospective buyers would show up in good numbers, weather permitting.
"We have no restrictions on the open houses beside the four square metre rule, but we'll be taking additional precautions, such as trying to limit it to ten people being in a property at any one time," he said.
The home at 21 Fairfax Road, Warrawong is open for inspection on Saturday, and due to be auctioned on Monday.
Set on 594 square metres, the home has a price guide of $650,000.
This family home comes with a two-bedroom granny flat.
It offers views across Lake Illawarra and is within walking distance of Warrawong's shopping hub.
Selling agent, Joseph Paiano from The Agency Illawarra said there had been more than 200 inquiries on the home, with 60 per cent of those from out of the area, such as Sydney buyers and those from interstate.
He said the price guide was attractive to many, as were the "spectacular" water views and potential for dual income.
Meanwhile, the property at 3/71-73 Campbell Street, Wollongong is open for inspection on Saturday, and is due to be auctioned on November 4.
The two-bedroom, one-bathroom unit has a price guide of $729,000.
Located in the 'Campbell Court' complex, the unit was renovated approximately five years ago.
Selling agent, Victor Shalala from MMJ Wollongong said the interest in the home was predominantly from local buyers, drawn by the location and it being located in a smaller complex with a lock-up garage.
He said the complex is more than 30 years old, but had been "immaculately" maintained.
