At times it has courted controversy (such as the onion debacle) but maintained its position as DIY-enthusiasts' preferred weekend diet.
After a months-long shutdown due to COVID-19, the Bunnings sausage sizzle returned on Saturday, to a warm welcome from Wollongong shoppers.
In addition to feeding hungry tummies the event also funnels much-needed funds towards community organisations, such as the Figtree Lions, who hosted this Saturday's sizzle.
President Chris Markham said it had been more than six months since their last event, leaving the club short of funds for their usual projects, including scholarships for local students.
"It's great to be back," he said.
