Illawarra Blue Stars will start Sunday afternoon track and field competition on Sunday, October 31 with a starting time at 2pm and first events under way by 2.30pm. The club will start with Round 1 competition pointscore, so dust off your spikes, use your base winter training and make your way into the Kerryn McCann athletics centre.
Registrations: you can go into the portal of ANSW and register online, but remember that you will need to complete a club form also from IBS when you attend the club meet. Dual registered athletes must complete your registration with your chosen Little A's club, then put Illawarra Blue Stars in as your senior club. If you are eligible please use the Active Kids Voucher that you can download at https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/campaign/active-kids and must be entered on registering.
Under the clubs "Reaching for the Stars" program your pathway is here with Illawarra Blue Stars, opening the season for all ages from under 8 right through to masters men and women. Bring your families, enjoy the sport and enjoy the friendship that athletics has to offer. If you wish to come for a trial period you are most welcome, and remember you can register with the club's registrar at any time.
Now some great news of Athletics NSW major meets.
NSW State Relays: Open to all our athletes from under 14 up, put your name in ASAP so the club can select teams. A great meet of relays over all distances, and including field event relays. This is important names come into us as soon as possible.
Illawarra Blue Stars and ANSW will host the afternoon of sprints/middle distance on Sunday, December 5, with events for 100, 200, 400, 800, short hurdles, javelin, pole vault. This event is open to all ages but must be a registered athlete. What great timing in preparation for the NSW All Schools.
NSW All Schools: December 9-12, a great event for our schoolboy/girl athletes and a great opportunity to take part in an event that will bring all students athletes together, You don't have to be a champion, you just have to enjoy the sport of track and field and compete against the students of your own age.
Illawarra Track Challenge: Saturday, January 15, 2022. State under 20 and open men's and women's 60 metres titles plus under 20, open men's and women's state I mile title. An event you don't want to miss, whether it be as an athlete or spectator. Remember Rohan Browning last season, that fabulous sub 10 sec for the 100 metres. Many other outstanding events, and this season will be no different, This is a must.
Country titles: Finally we have a venue for our country titles: the beautiful surrounds of the newly constructed Maitland track. Country titles, Friday, January 21 to Sunday, January 23. A great club competition that all members of our club can take part in and enjoy the friendship of country athletes.
Now pencil these dates in and be prepared to be off and running, jumping and throwing on Sunday, October 31 at 2pm, with Illawarra Blue Stars. All information will be on the website of Athletics NSW whilst members will receive the updated newsletter and club competition format.
