Organisers are keen to get kids back to playing sport after the COVID lockdowns halted the chance to get outside and play sport for the past few months. The organisation knows how much kids love their cricket, so they have plans to start in the coming weeks.
Community sport was recently allowed to return after the state reached the full vaccination target of 80 per cent. Cricket Illawarra is well prepared with COVID safe plans, with the support of their affiliated clubs, to ensure player safety is a priority by fully complying with NSW Public Health Orders as they are amended.
Local clubs are all taking registrations now. Interested people are interested to get their registration in so organisers can ensure they structure the teams and competitions to get maximum participation. Parents can find a club for their children at play.cricket.com.au.
This season, Cricket Illawarra are offering some new competitions to drive further growth. An under 10s development comp with be introduced to bridge the gap between Cricket Illawarra's successful Cricket Blast programs and the usual under 11s competition.
This will give the region's developing cricketers a controlled entry to the full cricket experience.
Female cricket also continues to take off across the Illawarra.
Due to Cricket Illawarra's growth in female participation, organisers are offering competitions for under 11s and under 13s girls on either a Saturday morning or Wednesday afternoon. As well as the girls' competitions most Illawarra clubs will also offer Cricket Blast programs for both boys and girls.
New members are always welcomed. All local clubs are very accommodating of new players and will guide kids and parents through the start of their cricket career.
Costs of registrations can be reduced via government assistance, so don't forget that active kids vouchers can be used when registering for cricket this season.
