NSW Ambulance paramedics were called to the school's Moore St boundary about 3.05pm Tuesday.
The boy, believed aged nine, was conscious and breathing, with swelling to his face, knee, elbow.
The Mercury understands he collided with the side of a car travelling at an estimated 35kmh.
The boy has been taken to Wollongong Hospital by ambulance, in a stable condition.
