The Department of Education announced Port Kembla Public School would be closed on Wednesday, October 27, after a school community member tested positive for COVID-19.
"Most schools are normally only closed for 24 hours to allow contact tracing and cleaning," a department spokesperson said.
All staff and students are asked to self-isolate and follow the NSW Health advice and protocols.
NSW Health has requested anyone who has been unwell or if you develop any symptoms such as a fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of smell/taste, muscle/joint pains, diarrhoea, nausea/vomiting or extreme tiredness to be tested at one of the COVID-19 testing clinics.
Meantime, Hang Dog Climbing Gym was on Tuesday added to NSW Health's list of latest COVID-19 exposure sites.
Anyone who attended the Auburn Street venue between noon to 2.45pm on Saturday, October 23, is a casual contact and must get tested and self-isolate until they receive a negative result.
The gym has reopened after undergoing a deep clean and contact tracing.
