Illawarra Highway Patrol officers stopped a Mazda sedan on Sunday and spoke to a 34-year-old woman.
She allegedly told the officers she had a licence but provided her sister's name as her own.
Police also alleged a roadside drug test returned a positive result.
The woman was arrested and taken to Wollongong police station, where she was charged with driving while disqualified and stating a false name.
Police await the results of a secondary drug test conducted at the police station.
