Police officers followed a Nissan Pulsar into the car park of a unit complex in Wollongong on Tuesday, October 26 after identifying it as a 'vehicle of interest' from a traffic stop two days prior.
The car's registration expired over a month ago.
Police alleged the driver, a 22-year-old woman, had her learner licence cancelled after she was disqualified from driving for drug-related driving offences.
Officers conducted a drug test that allegedly returned a positive result.
A search of the car uncovered an alleged set of homemade 'cloned' number plates.
The woman was taken to Wollongong Police Station and underwent a second drug test, the results of which were pending.
She was charged with driving while cancelled, unlawfully possessing a thing that resembles a number plate, and using an unregistered vehicle.
