The Wellington club on Friday confirmed players would catch a plane to NSW on Monday - alongside New Zealand Breakers basketballers - ahead of the 2021-22 competition.
The Phoenix men's team will be based in Chatswood and train at Valentines Sports Park, but will play home games at WIN Stadium for the second successive season while they're in Australia.
Wellington's inaugural A-League Women's squad will be based in Wollongong and also play home games at WIN Stadium.
The Phoenix temporarily called the Illawarra home last season. They arrived in November 2020 and played most home games in Wollongong, before returning to New Zealand in June.
As part of a new three-year agreement with Venues NSW, Wellington will play up to 11 home matches - spread across the club's men's and women's teams - at WIN Stadium for the 2021-22 season, along with at least a further three games across the following two seasons.
The Phoenix men's first game at the venue will be in round two against the Mariners on November 27, while the A-League Women's draw is yet to be released.
"The prospect of returning to Wollongong for a period of time is made easier for us, thanks to the support we continue to receive from local sponsors and partners," club general manager David Dome said.
"MCR continue to be an outstanding partner for us - dating back to last season - and the amazing support they're shown us is definitely a key reason for us to return to the Wollongong area; also the relationships we've built with WIN Stadium, Wollongong City Council, Football South Coast, Wollongong Wolves and more.
"What makes it even more special for us to that we'll be bringing not one, but two teams into the Gong this time around with our A-League Women's side basing themselves there for the season - so we hope locals will come out and support both teams during our time in Wollongong."
