Rural Fire Service district officer David Bartlett said three RFS brigade crews and six Fire & Rescue NSW trucks, as well as NSW Ambulance and NSW Police all rushed to the scene in response to an automatic fire alarm at 1.15am on Saturday.
"When the first appliance arrived they noticed smoke coming from the building," Mr Bartlett said.
"They made entry and discovered the fire was down in the garage where they keep the golf carts.
"The fire was quickly extinguished in the garage area which account for about 20 per cent of the building. But there was smoke damage throughout the rest of the building.
"There was no one in the building at the time. It was closed and no one was injured."
Links Shell Cove and The Tavern at Shell Cove advised members and patrons via social media on Saturday morning that fire damage had temporarily closed the golf club and tavern until further notice.
"Currently, there is no power and the phone lines are down. At this time there is also no access to the golf course, mini golf or driving range. No one was harmed and both staff and patrons are safe. We will keep everyone updated via social media."
Mr Bartlett said it initially appears the fire may have started in one of the golf carts but an investigation is ongoing.
"We have had our fire investigator attend this morning," he said.
Mr Bartlett said the rapid response meant the fire was brought until control quickly and shows the importance of fire alarms.
