The Shellharbour talent was on Wednesday included in Tony Gustavsson's 25-player squad for the two-game series, starting on November 27 in Sydney.
It will be the first time the sides have met since the USA prevailed 4-3 in their Olympics bronze medal clash in August, with Gustavsson using this series to finetune his ream for January's Women's Asian Cup in India.
For Foord, the November 27 clash will mark her third game in Australian colours since recovering from a quad strain. The injury saw the Arsenal forward miss the Matildas' friendly with the Republic of Ireland.
As the 27-year-old moves towards her 100th national appearance, Gustavsson says she continues to prove crucial to the Matildas set-up.
"I think after that last phenomenal season she had with Arsenal, Caitlin has brought that (form) into the Matildas environment as well," the coach said.
"Post-Olympics, she went through a little a bit of a rehab process to recharge and rehab her quad. It's taken a little bit of time and she's been eased into playing time with Arsenal. But if you look at her last Champions League (game), with an assist and goal, she's phenomenal, especially when she can be faced up and go at plays with speed and she's confident to set up other players and to finish herself."
However, the continued rise of young gun Mary Fowler is putting pressure on Foord's starting position. While Foord, Sam Kerr and Kyah Simon have been staples in Australia's forward structure, the former Illawarra Stingray grabbed the world's attention at the Olympics. She has scored three goals in her last three Matildas appearances.
"When it comes to our forwards, it's one of the lines we're overloaded. We have tonnes of really good attacking threats. And there's some intriguing qualities outside of this roster that I can't wait to see in a Matildas camp at some other point. But it's really tough competition," Gustavsson said.
"In terms of the ones that have performed, I think we have some cohesion, consistency and chemistry there that I like. But if you look at the last camp, Mary Fowler's performance in the last camp, she was phenomenal. And as a coach, I have to think do I need to put Caitlin Foord on the bench? Or Kyah Simon on the bench? Last camp, I tried to play all four because Mary had to spend a lot of time on the bench at the Olympics, and I did a little bit of a rotation in the system to try get four forward on the park.
"In terms of my forward line, I'm very happy with where we're at. They keep scoring goals and assists for their clubs, which is important, and I can't wait to seem play against the US. It's going to be a tough challenge for them but it's what we want."
Caitlin's phenomenal, especially when she can be faced up and go at plays with speed and she's confident.
