A NSW Ambulance spokesperson confirmed they attended two crashes on Saturday November 20, and two crashes on Sunday November 21. All four involved a single, south-bound vehicle losing control on the Princes Highway in the wet weather and colliding with a barrier or guard rail.
The first accident, shortly after 3.30pm on Saturday, involved a female driver aged in her 30s who struck the barrier on the bends themselves. The second accident at 9pm that night involved a male driver in his 30s, who also hit the dividing barrier near the Kiama Heights rest area at the final bend.
At about 10.15am on Sunday a single car driven by an unknown person hit the barrier just south of Mount Pleasant lookout. The final accident occurred about 1pm on Sunday, when a single car struck the guard rail near the Gerringong off-ramp.
Fortunately, all drivers only suffered minor injuries, although one, a woman aged in her 30s, was taken to Wollongong Hospital in stable condition with abdominal pain, facial and hip injuries.
Gerringong Rural Fire Service personnel attended three of the crashes, and in a Facebook post they urged motorists to take more care on that section of road.
"The weather was atrocious over the weekend," they said. "People must drive to those conditions - keep well below the speed limit."
