The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told the court his two-year jail sentence for his current offences, which involved the molestation of two teenage boys at Eden and Wagga Wagga between 2000 and 2003, was due to expire in December.

"I'm supposed to leave here on December 3, it's the end of my sentence," he said while appearing in court via video link from Silverwater jail.

However, Magistrate Gabriel Fleming told the man he was not going anywhere.

"You won't be leaving [on December 3] because you have been refused bail [on the fresh offences]," she said.

In the fresh charges, police allege the man molested the children while on sporting club camping trips at Berkeley, Childowla, Lake Illawarra and Wyangala Dam in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Some of the alleged offences are said to have occurred while the man was under the age of 18.

He is yet to enter pleas to five counts of indecent assault on a male under 14, two counts of assaulting a female and committing an act of indecency aged under 16 and one count of procuring an indecent act with a male.

The case will return to court in December.
