The woman passed away at Wollongong Hospital. She had received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and had underlying health conditions.

Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District has recorded four new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm Tuesday.

All four of the new cases are from the Wollongong local government area and all but one are linked to known cases.

One case each resides in the postcodes of 2500 and 2525 with two living in 2530.

There are currently seven people being treated in hospital as a result of COVID-19.

Meanwhile the state has recorded 248 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

Three cases have been excluded following further investigation, bringing the total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 80,219.

A man in his 80s from western Sydney also died at Nepean Hospital. He was not vaccinated and had underlying health conditions.

District staff remind the community to remain vigilant for even the mildest of symptoms, and to continue to come forward for testing and vaccination.

There have been 2,517 cases of COVID-19 in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District since June.

For the week ending, Sunday 21 November, there were 15,045 tests carried out across the district.
