You'd be forgiven for taking a second look when a 90 tonne mobile crane became a new addition to Wollongong's skyline.
The massive structure was busy hauling timber onto the top of the former Kells law firm building on 83-85 Market Street, Wollongong.
Traffic was held up on Thursday morning as it maneuvered the materials onto the roof as part of renovations to the office block.
The property is located at 83-85 Market Street, estimated to worth of $5.5 million to $6 million is undergoing a refurbishment after being sold in 2019.
In 2018, after almost three decades at the Market Street site, Kells moved its Wollongong office to a facility in Auburn Street and the property was put on the market through selling agent, Colliers International.
At the time managing director Simon Kersten said the Sydney-based owners had decided to list the property for sale for someone to renovate it.
An application was approved by Wollongong City Council in September 2020 for an awning refurbishment, demolition of sunhoods and upgrade works to the commercial building.
A second application, also approved, was for commercial fit-out works, external alterations including creating an additional storey from a plant room and conversion to a cafe at ground floor.
