All six come from the Wollongong LGA - one lives in the 2500 postcode, two reside in the 2515 postcode and three in the 2530 postcode. Four are linked to known cases.
There have now been 2525 cases of COVID-19 in the local health district since June, and there are currently four people being treated in hospital as a result of COVID-19.
Across the state a total of 261 new COVID cases were recorded in the 24 hours to 8pm on Thursday.
There are currently 185 cases in hospital, with 27 patients in intensive care, 10 of whom require ventilation.
There were 73,027 COVID-19 tests reported in NSW to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day's total of 74,926.
The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District is urging residents to continue to come forward for testing. Latest figures show just over 15,000 tests were carried out in the region for the week ending Sunday, November 21.
"Remember to get tested if any symptoms appear, no matter how mild. These include cold or flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath," a district spokesperson stated.
"People with mild symptoms, such as fatigue, new muscle aches or pains, a change in taste or smell or a runny nose should also arrange testing as quickly as possible."
There remains a number of COVID-19 testing clinics across the district, with a full list and updated opening hours and times at www.islhd.health.nsw.gov.au.
The district is also urging the community to continue to come forward for vaccination. The district's vaccination clinics are now offering a booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine to people aged 18 years and older, six months after their second dose.
Appointments are preferred and can be made by calling the ISLHD Booking Team on 1300 096 365 during business hours, or online via the website.
Booster shots are available at local general practitioners and pharmacies across the region.
