After a shooting incident at Windang on Sunday morning blocked Windang Road, traffic was diverted around the lake.
But a combination of the second largest air show in NSW at Shellharbour Airport continuing on Sunday and weekend getaway travelers returning to Sydney after a trip down the South Coast, has northbound traffic on the Princes Motorway and other roads near Dapto at a standstill.
The Traffic Management Centre is still advising motorists to avoid Windang Road at Boronia Avenue and the surrounding area. It is saying the Princes Highway can still be used as an alternative.
But Live Traffic is showing red lines on the Princes Hwy and Princes Motorway and many drivers are reporting very slow progress, particularly those heading north.
Meanwhile adding to the delays a pavement failure on the Princes Highway between Kanahooka Road and West Dapto Road has closed the highway in both directions with motorists advised to use an alternative route.
