Luke from Leisure Coast Bait and Tackle at Corrimal said there has been a good run down south on bluefin tuna and albacore, mainly south of Batemans Bay.

These guys have been quite in close and have been from 10 to 30 kilograms whilst out over the shelf the fish were much bigger with some 50kg tune pulled over the gunwale.
Unfortunately, the expected summer easy coast current is already charging down, so the tuna season will be very short lived this year.
Locally the weather kept most at home with not many trailers at the ramps however mid-week it seemed to settle but the wet weather outfits need to be handy so hopefully there should be some nice cleaning table decorations.
For the snapper fishos and after all the recent rain and swell, there were some excellent reds caught in the shallows in the early part of this week.
Again, the weather kept many at bay for the better part of this week, but with it abating there are plenty keen to get amongst them over the shallow reefs with all the run of and dislodged bait for the stir up.
Reds to five kilos were caught this week with a couple of good fish taken in just 10 metres depth.
The wider reefs werel holding fish but as we all know after a good stir up, they will move in closer with the abundance of food from creek run offs and swell.
The kings were still on fire around the islands and bommies in the northern Illawarra with lots of legal fish - heightened with reported brutal bust ups in the shallows.
Land based fish to a metre were not that uncommon with some monsters down Kiama and Shellharbour where live slimies and squid were the go to baits.
There were some good mulloway taken last week for those who chose to take it on in the rain with local angler Jesse Mansfield, getting his PB fish off the beach with a metre ten fish and watched his mate on a bigger fish only to have hooks pull right on the shore break which was devastating.

Snowy plan to keep trout viable in lakes
Steve Samuels, President of Monaro Acclimatisation Society Inc (MAS) recently met with representatives from Snowy Hydro and NSW Fisheries to discuss the planning for the Gaden Trout Grow-Out facility.
As you may be aware MAS played a leading role in securing $5 million as part of the Snowy 2.0 scheme to build this facility to ensure the Snowy trout fishery is given the best chance of remaining viable if redfin perch are introduced into our main lakes of Tantangara, Eucumbene, Jindabyne through the pumping of water from Talbingo Dam.
The meeting confirmed the MAS recommendations that the grow-out facility being sited at Gaden hatchery and will consist of a building and tanks system Thredbo River water will be supplemented with water from Lake Jindabyne via a pump and pipeline and allow the facility to be capable of growing out up to 150,00-200,000 trout each season to a size that best protects them from redfin predation (170-200mm).
Now that this has been agreed, Snowy Hydro will begin developing the plan in sufficient detail to submit to all parties for agreement and then forward to the NSW Planning Department and NSW DPI for approval.
Cod call
The season opening for murray cod anglers passed last Wednesday and many anglers headed out to tangle with these iconic Australian natives.
It goes without saying, but best practice would be CPR - catch, photo, release - to preserve fish stocks for the future. DPI/Fisheries will be active to ensure fishers follows the size rules and to check on licences.

Beat the drum
Off the rocks where fishable in there more sheltered southern corners of ledges, there have been plenty of good drummer and blackfish taken whilst the swell was up.
Some excellent bream to near a kilo were kept interested with a steady but thin bread burley trail.
