The dozen new local cases were among 271 across the state in the 24 hours to 8pm Wednesday.
In the Illawarra, no new cases were detected in Shellharbour and just one in the Shoalhaven.
The rest were found in Wollongong postcodes, with four in 2500, three in 2530, two in 2518 and one each in 2517 and 2526.
The results come a day after residents flocked to Wollongong's testing clinics in response to a public health alert.
Residents from the above postcodes are advised to be extra vigilant when leaving their home, monitor for symptoms and get tested if feeling unwell.
The latest figures bring the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Illawarra Shoalhaven to 2568 since the start of the Delta outbreak in June.
