Two popular community jetties in the Illawarra have been reopened for the summer holiday season following the completion of upgrade works.

Minister for planning Anthony Roberts said the Tuggerah Bay Jetty at Berkeley and the King Street Jetty and boat ramp at Warrawong were now operational.

"These facilities are popular with local and visiting boating enthusiasts and fishers, so it was important this work finished prior to Christmas," Mr Roberts said.
"We have invested $2.8 million to repair the King Street Jetty and improve the Warrawong foreshore, including upgrades to the market car park, fencing, and installation of security cameras at Northcliffe Drive."
"Tuggerah Bay Jetty has also undergone an upgrade, including new timber components, ladders, safety deck meshing and jetty edges."
Lands minister Kevin Anderson said the NSW Government was investing $4.5 million on Lake Illawarra jetty upgrades and foreshore improvements, with work on the Old Merinda Wharf completed, and further projects proposed.
