Called Mavs, the Ellen Street park was started just over a year ago by two keen skaters.
"It's kind of hidden in the corner and no one takes notice really," said Kingpin skate shop owner Joey Lyons.
"It's out of the way and doesn't seem to pester anybody. Normally, if it's in the way of people someone will complain and then it gets shut down."
He said it was "crazy" there wasn't a CBD skate park.
"People come to the shop from out of town and they say 'hey, where's the skate park?'," he said.
"We say Berkeley or Fairy Meadow and they look at me confused that there's not a park at the beach or near the city."
He hoped the popularity of the park would inspire Council to consider something more permanent.
"I think it'd be cool if council got involved and was keen to make a skate park, because it gets used from the moment the sun's up to when it goes down," he said.
